• We impact our surroundings and our surroundings impact us. A blending of nature and science, Algaebra allows us to visualize the impact we, as individuals, have on our environment in a collective sense. Each bag begins with a culture of bacteria and the basic ingredients of life. The visitor can then choose to calculate extra nutrients for individual bags from a collection of syringes. The two worlds of object and observer now become juxtaposed: the algae needs the spectator to become a part of its world for nutrients while the algae also reacts to the newly added ingredients. As more participants contribute to Algaebra, each bag begins to display its individual contents by forming new colors for the world to see.
